Original engraving from C. Gouffier’s ‘Voyage Pittoresque de la Grèce,’ with the publication date appearing in the lower left corner.

Auguste de Choiseul-Gouffier whose passion for ancient Greece led him to travel to the country in 1776 accompanied by an entourage of prominent artists and scholars. His monumental publication was received with enthusiasm in France. Gouffier was granted membership to the Académie Française and subsequently became the Ambassador of Constantinople.

A certified, antique map, guaranteed to be over 200 years old.
